Montevannos Roble 2021 (6 bottles’ box)

The end of the last cycle closed with slightly warmer than usual temperatures. The first frosts occurred at the end of November, and these frosts were not significant until almost the month of December. In any case, weather conditions generally allowed for good plant growth.

Ripening was well developed and favored by the absence of rainfall from early September to mid-October. The intense day/night temperature changes and the good luminosity of the days allowed the harvest to develop calmly, so that the fruit arrived at the winery with ideal ripeness and in perfect health.

VINEYARDS, VARIETIES AND AGING

100% Tempranillo grapes from our managed vineyards in Quemada and Quintana del Pidio, which are located at 850 meters above sea level and have been planted in soils dominated by boulders of more than 40 years.

The manual harvest is transported in refrigerated containers in 15 kg palletized boxes to the winery, maintaining its integrity. After a gentle destemming and crushing, the grapes were transferred to tanks where they underwent natural malolactic alcoholic fermentation.

It was then aged in tank for four months and racked into American and French oak barrels, both new and second and third year, for four months.

It was finally bottled in August 2022.

TASTING NOTE

Visually we can highlight its high tonality of garnet red color, clean and bright. The nose highlights aromas of black fruits, such as blackberry and currant, and vanilla, coconut and roasted coffee acquired during the short aging process. In the mouth it leaves a fresh and fruity mouthfeel with the slight complexity of sweet tannins from the toasted oak. It is a wine balanced in acidity with persistent fleshy fruit. The aftertaste is round, marked by the style of modern wines.
